Wipro Implements Hybrid Work Policy: Employees to Return to Office Three Days a Week

Wipro, the Bengaluru-based IT giant and India's fourth-largest software services provider, is set to launch a hybrid work policy effective November 15. In alignment with tech industry peers like Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro employees will now be required to work from the office for a minimum of three days each week. This mandate aims to foster collaboration, in-person interactions, and the preservation of Wipro's corporate culture.

Employees received an email notification about this development on Monday, with the message attributed to Saurabh Govil, Chief Human Resources Officer at Wipro. The policy, however, will be customized according to the country where each employee is based, local legal regulations, and any applicable agreements. In the case of European nations, consultation with employee representation groups will play a role in shaping these guidelines.

The email also carries a stern warning that consistent non-compliance with these guidelines will result in "consequences" commencing January 7. While the specifics of these consequences were not detailed, the company emphasized the significance of accountability for its growth and success.

Potential repercussions, as reported by Moneycontrol, include a loss of trust and credibility with managers and leaders, diminished work performance and quality, heightened stress, team conflicts, and dissatisfaction. In addition, the management reserves the right to undertake disciplinary actions.

Wipro's move underscores the evolving dynamics of work arrangements in response to the ongoing changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing focus on hybrid work models.
