WhatsApp Introduces Effortless Blocking from Lock Screen for Unwanted Contacts
WhatsApp has introduced a user-friendly feature that simplifies the process of blocking unwanted contacts directly from your smartphone's Lock Screen. As the Meta-owned instant messaging platform contends with a surge in spam and phishing attempts, this update aims to empower users in efficiently managing their contact list and minimizing disruptions.
The latest feature allows users, whether on Android or iPhones, to block unwanted contacts right from the Lock Screen. When you receive a message from an unknown contact, WhatsApp will display two prompts: one to reply and another to block. Opting to block will instantly prevent the contact from calling or messaging you, streamlining the process without any additional steps.
In addition to blocking, WhatsApp now offers the option to report the contact. By choosing to block and report, the last five messages sent by the contact will be forwarded to WhatsApp for appropriate action. This feature is also conveniently accessible through the notification shade on your smartphone.
Previously, users had to navigate through the chat list or individual chats to block unsaved contacts on WhatsApp. With this update, the platform enables users to swiftly block unwanted contacts without even opening the app, enhancing user experience and security.
WhatsApp officially announced this development through a text message on its official account, indicating that the rollout is underway and expected to reach users' devices shortly. Stay tuned for this valuable update to enhance your control over unwanted messages and contacts on WhatsApp.
