Four migrant laborers from Bihar tragically lost their lives due to suffocation while working inside a septic tank at a dyeing factory on the Palsana-Katodara road in Surat. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, prompting a swift response from local authorities.
Preliminary investigations reveal that two workers initially fell unconscious during the septic tank cleaning process, leading two others to attempt a rescue. The identities of the deceased, all hailing from Bihar, are currently being ascertained.
H L Rathore, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Bardoli Division, stated that senior officials of the factory are undergoing questioning in relation to the incident. "Four workers had gone to clean the septic tank and died due to suffocation. Further investigation is underway. We are questioning seniors of the factory... All the four deceased are residents of Bihar," said DSP Rathore.
Authorities were alerted when a call was received at 6:30 am on Wednesday, prompting a team to reach the location. Despite immediate efforts to extract the workers, they were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
The deceased workers were residing in a colony associated with the factory. Additional details are expected as the investigation progresses.
