Tragic Incident at Delhi's INA Metro Station: Man's Suicide Raises Concerns

Around 7 pm on Saturday, a 30-year-old man identified as Ajitesh Singh ended his life by jumping in front of a Samaipur Badli-bound Metro train at Delhi's INA station. The incident was reported by the police on Sunday, revealing that the tragic event was captured by CCTV cameras installed at the Metro station.

The footage showed Singh intentionally jumping in front of a Yellow Line Metro train from platform number 2. Authorities were alerted after a call was received on Singh's mobile phone, leading to the swift response of a police team to the scene.

"Singh was identified through a call, which came on his mobile phone," stated a senior police officer to PTI. The deceased's body has been taken to the mortuary for autopsy, and an investigation is currently underway to understand the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.

"The body was shifted to the mortuary for autopsy. Further investigation is underway to determine the reason why he took this extreme step," added the officer.

Following the incident, metro services were temporarily disrupted for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, according to a senior official from DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation).

This tragic event brings to light the ongoing challenge of mental health issues in society. It serves as a somber reminder of the importance of awareness, support, and understanding for individuals facing emotional struggles. Last June, a similar incident occurred when an unidentified person lost their life after jumping in front of a metro train at Noida Sector 52 metro station on the Blue Line of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's corridor.
