Tragic Accident Claims Eight Lives near Balijodi Village in Keonjhar District
In a devastating incident on Friday, a vehicle carrying 20 individuals, including three women and a child, collided with a stationary truck on National Highway 20 near Balijodi village in Ghatagon area, Keonjhar district. The group, hailing from Pudamari village, was en route to seek darshan of Goddess Tarini when the unfortunate accident occurred.
Preliminary reports suggest that the driver might have dozed off, resulting in the collision just three kilometres away from the temple, as per information provided by the police. The impact of the crash claimed the lives of seven individuals on the spot, while another victim succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital.
Emergency response teams rushed to the scene, transporting five injured individuals to the Keonjhar district headquarters hospital. Additionally, three critically injured persons were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced medical care as their conditions deteriorated.
