In a devastating incident, six individuals lost their lives when their vehicle veered off the road and into the Kali river in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
Lokeshwar Singh, the Superintendent of Police in Pithoragarh, disclosed that the tragic occurrence unfolded during the late hours on the Dharchula-Lipulekh road. The victims, who had just completed a pilgrimage to Adi Kailash, were on their way back when the incident transpired, as reported by PTI.
Among the unfortunate victims, two hailed from Bengaluru, two from Telangana, and two from Uttarakhand, according to SP Lokeshwar Singh.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences and deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He extended his heartfelt prayers and sympathies to the grieving families.
Regrettably, due to challenging geographical terrain and the darkness of the night, authorities were compelled to postpone the recovery of the victims' bodies, as reported by PTI.
