US-based electric car manufacturer Tesla has announced the appointment of Vaibhav Taneja, of Indian origin, as the company's new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Taneja, aged 45, will assume the role in addition to his current position as Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) of the company. This transition comes as Zachary Kirkhorn, the previous CFO, steps down from his role.
In a recent company filing, Tesla acknowledged Kirkhorn's 13-year tenure as a period of "tremendous expansion and growth." Kirkhorn will continue to support Tesla through the end of the year to facilitate a seamless transition.
Kirkhorn's Departure Announcement on LinkedIn Zachary Kirkhorn took to LinkedIn to announce his departure from the position of Tesla's CFO, stating, "This morning Tesla announced that I’ve stepped down from my role as Chief Financial Officer, succeeded by our Chief Accounting Officer, Vaibhav Taneja."

A Glimpse into Vaibhav Taneja's Profile Vaibhav Taneja has been fulfilling the role of Tesla's Chief Accounting Officer since March 2019. He has simultaneously served as the company's Corporate Controller from May 2018. Taneja's journey within Tesla includes his tenure as Assistant Corporate Controller between February 2017 and May 2018. His association with Tesla dates back to the acquisition of SolarCity Corporation, a US-based solar panel developer, in 2016. Taneja held various finance and accounting roles at SolarCity. Before joining Tesla, Taneja's career encompassed positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers in India and the US, spanning from July 1999 to March 2016.
