Ratan Tata Exposes Fake Video: Warns Against Deceptive Investment Recommendations Circulating on Social Media
Former Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata

Former Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata raised concerns on Wednesday as he uncovered a "fake video" circulating on social media, falsely depicting him endorsing risk-free investment options. Tata took to Instagram to expose a post from a user named Sona Agrawal, who utilized a fabricated interview video portraying Tata recommending investments. In the deceptive video, Tata was shown addressing Agrawal as his manager.

The video's caption read, "A recommendation from Ratan Tata for everyone in India. This is your chance to exaggerate your investment right today risk-free with 100% guarantee. Go to the channel right now." The video also displayed messages suggesting that people were receiving money in their bank accounts.

This is not the first instance of Ratan Tata debunking false claims. Last month, he clarified on X that he never provided recommendations to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding fines or rewards for cricketers. Dismissing any connection to cricket, Tata addressed the misinformation spread through WhatsApp forwards and videos, including a false claim that he pledged a specific sum of money to Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan.

"I have made no suggestions to the ICC or any cricket faculty about any cricket member regarding a fine or reward to any players. I have no connection to cricket whatsoever. Please do not believe WhatsApp forwards and videos of such nature unless they come from my official platforms," tweeted Ratan Tata on October 30.

Since its sharing, the post exposing the fake video has garnered over 3.7 lakh views, with ongoing engagement in the comments section. These fabricated videos raise concerns amidst a growing prevalence of deepfakes on social media—synthetic media generated using AI, producing convincing fake images, videos, or audio that may elude those not trained to detect them.
