Raghav Chadha's 'Yuhin Koi Bewafa' Message to BJD, YSRC on Delhi Ordinance

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha has criticized the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the YSR Congress for extending their support to the contentious Delhi services bill. Chadha expressed his belief that the two parties must have been compelled to back the bill, referencing popular Hindi poetry during his media statement.

While Chadha refrained from providing further details on the "compulsions" faced by the Opposition-led state governments, he emphasized that the subject has become a matter of public and media analysis. The AAP has previously accused the Narendra Modi-led government of misusing financial probe agencies to silence opposition parties. Chadha also warned non-BJP parties of the bill's potential impact, stating that if it succeeds in Delhi, it could be replicated in all non-BJP ruling governments.

Both the non-BJP parties, which govern Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, decided to support the controversial bill, aimed at granting the Centre control over the bureaucracy in Delhi. The AAP has vehemently opposed the bill, deeming it unconstitutional.

The bill was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, and the AAP has been working to rally opposition parties to vote against it in the Rajya Sabha. However, given the BJP's numerical advantage in both houses of Parliament, the bill is expected to pass.

Chadha further criticized the legislation, claiming that it would transform democracy into "babucracy," suggesting that it stems from the BJP's envy of not being able to form a government in Delhi for a long time. The AAP spokesperson highlighted that over the past 25 years, all six Delhi chief ministers were non-BJP, rendering the BJP politically irrelevant in Delhi.

Amid the dissent, the Opposition's I.N.D.I.A alliance has offered its support to the AAP on the matter. Several leaders expressed their disappointment with the bill and condemned the Centre's move. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram questioned the BJP and YSR Congress Party's rationale for supporting the legislation and raised concerns about provisions that could allow two officers to override the chief minister's decisions.
