Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport – Innovative Features and Design With a budget of Rs 242 crore, the project encompasses the construction of a state-of-the-art terminal building and the expansion of airside facilities. The new 6,500 square meter terminal building, designed to accommodate 300 passengers during peak hours and handle an annual traffic of 6 lakh passengers, boasts passenger-centric amenities including 9 check-in counters, 3 conveyor belts, and tactile paths. The architectural design mirrors the grandeur of the Ram Temple, with interior decor showcasing local art depicting the life of Shri Ram.
Looking ahead to Phase-2, plans include adding a terminal building with a floor area of 50,000 square meters and extending the runway from 2200 meters to 3700 meters. Beyond its functional role, the airport is envisioned to serve as a cultural symbol of Ayodhya. Scindia stressed the importance of integrating the city's historical significance and culture into the airport's design.
Key to Phase-1 is the substantial improvement of airside facilities, particularly the widening and expansion of the runway. Upon completion of this phase, the airport will have the capacity to accommodate four Airbus A320 aircraft simultaneously.
Airlines to Establish Connections to Major Cities In its initial phase, the airport aims to connect Ayodhya with major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Additional routes will be introduced based on passenger demand, solidifying the airport's role as a pivotal transportation hub.
