JSW Group Shares Dip 2% Amidst Allegations Against Chairperson Sajjan Jindal
JSW Group faces a 1% to 2% decline in share prices following rape allegations against chairperson Sajjan Jindal.
JSW Group, a prominent conglomerate, witnessed a decline in share prices ranging from 1% to 2% following allegations of rape against the conglomerate's chairperson, Sajjan Jindal. The complaint, registered at Mumbai's BKC police station, has impacted several JSW Group companies.
As of 12.30 pm, JSW Steel experienced a 1.94% decrease at ₹850, JSW Holding observed a 1.63% fall, while JSW Infrastructure, although minimally affected, saw a 0.15% dip. JSW Infrastructure remained marginally positive with a 0.07% increase.
The complaint against Sajjan Jindal alleges incidents that unfolded after the complainant met him in October 2021 during an IPL match in Dubai and later at a wedding in Jaipur. The actress claimed that Jindal became increasingly personal and inappropriate during subsequent encounters in Mumbai, culminating in an alleged assault.
Expressing discomfort with Jindal's advances, the complainant stated, "He started addressing me as ‘babe’ and ‘baby,’ and described all the problems in his marriage when we first met alone, which made me very awkward." The actress further accused the BKC police station of initially ignoring her complaint, prompting her to seek legal intervention.
Sajjan Jindal has vehemently denied the allegations, deeming them false and baseless. In a statement, his representatives affirmed, "Mr. Sajjan Jindal denies these false and baseless allegations. He is committed to providing full cooperation throughout the investigation. As the investigation is ongoing, we will refrain from commenting further at this stage." The chairperson has vowed to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
