Governor Ramesh Bais Advocates Politics for Societal Welfare at National Intellectual Conference

Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, addressing the National Intellectual Conference organized by the Sardar Patel Intellectual Forum at the Indira Gandhi Institute in the capital, stressed the need for politics to be directed towards the betterment of society rather than being confined within it.

With a distinguished career spanning four decades in roles such as Governor of Maharashtra, Central Minister, and Member of Parliament, Mr. Bais commended the ongoing efforts of the Patel Society-run Intellectual Forum for promoting welfare and social harmony within his community. He called upon everyone, especially the youth, to unite with dedication and determination to contribute towards India's development by 2047.

In his succinct address, Mr. Bais acknowledged the monumental contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's Iron Man and former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, who integrated over 550 princely states into the Indian Republic, fostering social harmony and brotherhood. He encouraged the Patel-Kurmi community to embrace Sardar Patel's ideals and continue working towards the welfare and social harmony of their community through the Patel Intellectual Forum. He also urged the community to overcome biases, educate their daughters, and instill discipline and culture in their sons.

Professor Kesarilal Verma, the Chancellor of Shivaji University, Mumbai, expressed joy at witnessing numerous enlightened individuals at the national conference. He underscored the importance of sustaining positive discussions and creative activities to guide society in the right direction. While emphasizing the non-political nature of the forum, he highlighted the indispensable role of creative cooperation with political figures for comprehensive societal development.

Dr. A.K. Verma, a member of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, delivered a scholarly address emphasizing the significance of contact, cooperation, and organization in advancing society. He lauded the continuous efforts of the forum in fostering social harmony and brotherhood. Dr. Verma set the goal of organizing awareness rallies, akin to the Barabanki-Faizabad initiative, across Uttar Pradesh and establishing at least a thousand units of the forum in every district of the country.

The event commenced with a warm welcome for all dignitaries, followed by the ceremonial lighting of a lamp and floral tributes to Sardar Patel's portrait. Students from Fatehpur district's former Intermediate College captivated the audience with an emotional short play on the Vardoli Movement and a stage presentation on Sardar Patel. Regional President Gangwar and Minister Jagdish Sharan Gangwar outlined the forum's activities and plans. The entire program was successfully orchestrated by Yogendra Sachan.
