Exclusive: Nikita Nanda Founder - Nanda Capital Holding

A detailed explanation of your background. 

I am the Founding Partner of Nanda Capital Holdings, the fund of the Family Group Nanda Group. While today venturing into the world of investment and startups, Nikita has been building and working on multiple businesses for close to two decades now. Having started her career at the age of 21, Nikita had first begun her journey in teaching and skilling. With pure grit, passion, and drive, Nikita went on to take on the challenges of her in-law’s family business head-on. She even went on to create highly skilled jobs for over 2000 women in her factory in Kota. This has not only made the women employable but has created a new source of livelihood for several women in the region. 

The different businesses you have built and why that particular business.

Starting with Textile, I went on to build and expand the different verticals of the business - Pharma, Real Estate, Lending, and Skilling. Based out of Kota, Rajasthan, the Nanda Group today boasts a business well into several crores. In all these decades, I have effectively and efficiently married my love for teaching, skilling, and business into one unit. I have also helped skill and create jobs for over 10,000  women in Rajasthan. These are women who hail from marginal backgrounds but are self-sufficient and intelligent. By giving them basic training and skilling in the textile industry, we have been able to help these women find livelihoods, and also help create a steady income for their families. 

Starting VC fund - why did you choose to start it? 

I know what it takes to build a company, the challenges you face, the ups and downs, and the times when you need someone to rely on… it was then that I felt there was a need for such a partner. And it is this partner I want to be for startup founders. It led to the birth of Nanda VC. An investment firm that is a friend of the founder. And definitely not just a fair-weather friend! Being in the trenches, we (the advisory board, investors, and I) understand what the founder/s go through while bringing a product to life. It isn’t just about the money. But also about building the right connections, and mentorship, helping them create the right products, and also bringing in advice and help when and where needed. Nanda VC pitches will be closely evaluated by a group of investors, industry experts and advisors, who will evaluate the company and its founders. 

Core thesis of your fund 

We have a focus on what the founders’ mentality and mindset towards their company is and will continue to be. Since the company is in its early stages, the founder’s belief, mindset, and team are what matters the most. The kind of startups you want to invest in We are a sector-agnostic VC fund. We are focused on investing in startups across the board, and all in the early stages of their growth and development. Our advisory board will evaluate the product, service, and merit of investing in each company.
