In a tragic turn of events, Nepal was rocked by a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 on Friday night, resulting in a devastating loss of life, with at least 128 people reported dead. Additionally, over 100 individuals have been left injured, and the earthquake's impact reverberated across neighboring regions, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and the Delhi-NCR area.
The earthquake struck at 11:47 pm, with its epicenter recorded in Jajrakot's Lamidanda, situated 142 km from Kathmandu and 941 km from New Delhi. The aftermath of the earthquake has disrupted communications in many areas of Nepal, raising concerns about a potentially higher death toll.
Expressing his deep sorrow over the tragedy, Nepal's Prime Minister, Pushpakamal Dahal, known as 'Prachanda,' has taken immediate action by personally heading to the affected site, accompanied by a medical team. Both the Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been mobilized to carry out critical rescue and relief efforts.
