Commuters using the Delhi Metro, take note! The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made adjustments to its train services for the upcoming Diwali festival. On November 12, 2023 (Sunday), the day of Diwali, the metro train services will start at 06:00 hrs on all lines, with the exception of the Airport Express Line (AEL). For the AEL, the services will commence at 04:45 hrs.
Additionally, the DMRC has also altered the last train timing for Diwali. On this special day, the final metro train will depart at 22:00 hrs from the terminal stations of all lines, including the Airport Express Line. This is an earlier departure time compared to the usual 23:00 hrs.
Impact on Pink Line Services
In a recent incident, train services on the Pink Line, which covers the Majlis Park-Maujpur Metro corridor, were affected on the Down Line (traveling from Majlis Park towards Maujpur) from 08:25 hrs to 10:09 hrs. The disruption was caused by a technical fault observed in a train as it approached Durgabai Deshmukh Metro Station.
In response to the incident, the DMRC took several steps to regulate the metro services on this corridor, including:
- Reducing the headway between trains in the affected section.
- Ensuring that metro train services on the remaining section of the Pink Line, from Majlis Park to Mayapuri and Lajpat Nagar to Maujpur, operated normally during this period on both tracks.
- Conducting regular announcements at station premises and inside the trains to keep passengers informed.
Progress on Fifth Yamuna Bridge
The construction of the fifth metro bridge over the Yamuna River is advancing, with an expected completion date of September 2024. Currently, 50% of the bridge's construction has been accomplished. The bridge consists of two modules, each spanning 290 meters. One of the modules has already been completed. This bridge is part of the Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor, a vital component of the Phase IV project.
Stay updated with the latest developments in Delhi Metro services and enjoy a safe and convenient commute during the Diwali festivities.
