iPhone 15 Users Take to Social Media to Voice Concerns About Overheating Issues

Apple's recent launch event on September 12th, dubbed 'Wonderlust,' introduced the eagerly anticipated iPhone 15 series. These new models hit the market on September 22nd, both in India and worldwide. However, as excited customers began to experience their new devices, an unexpected issue has come to light: overheating.

According to a report by Bloomberg, disgruntled iPhone 15 owners have flocked to social media platforms such as Reddit and X to express their dissatisfaction with the overheating problem. Some have gone as far as describing their iPhones as getting "too hot to handle," particularly when connected to a charging source.

One user shared a particularly frustrating experience with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, revealing that it overheated to the point of shutting down during a call, requiring several minutes to recover. It's worth noting that Apple devices are designed to shut down automatically in situations of overheating or prolonged exposure to excessive heat, such as direct sunlight.

Speculation about the cause of these overheating issues has swirled, with some pointing to TSMC's advanced 3nm node as a possible culprit. However, Taiwan-based technology expert Ming-Chi Kuo offers a different perspective.

In a recent Medium post addressing the iPhone 15's overheating concerns, Kuo opined, "The primary factor is more likely the trade-offs made in the thermal system design to achieve a lighter weight, including a reduced heat dissipation area and the use of a titanium frame, which negatively affects thermal efficiency."

Kuo also noted that while software updates from Apple might provide some relief, significant improvements may be constrained unless Apple opts to lower processor performance. He added, "If Apple doesn't effectively address this issue, it could have a detrimental impact on the iPhone 15 Pro series' shipments throughout its product life cycle."
