Jaipur: Congress leader Ashok Gehlot expressed disapproval on Wednesday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's characterization of Rahul Gandhi as 'moorkhon ke sardar' (the leader of stupid people), stating that it lowers the dignity of the Prime Minister's post. Gehlot deemed the Prime Minister's comment "very unfortunate" and criticized Modi for making such statements while holding a position of dignity.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is apprehensive about Rahul Gandhi becoming the prime minister in 2024, noting Gandhi's rising popularity across the country. Raut suggested that Modi's fear is a result of the anticipated loss of the BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections in five states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.
On Tuesday, PM Modi, without directly naming Rahul Gandhi, ridiculed him as the leader of stupid people in response to Gandhi's assertion that most Indians use China-made mobile phones. Modi emphasized India's status as the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer globally.
Rahul Gandhi, during an election rally, had stated that the Congress aimed to establish India as a manufacturing giant, highlighting the prevalence of 'Made in China' labels on various products in the country.
In a separate rally in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, Gandhi accused PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of orchestrating the theft of the government in Madhya Pradesh. The state is set to undergo polls on November 17, with vote counting scheduled for December 3.
