After Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore's assertion that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi met with the Communist Party of China during the 2008 Olympics, the Congress has retaliated, denouncing his claims as "blatant lies." They highlighted that during the Beijing Olympics, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi visited the Games Village, interacting with Indian athletes in the Indian block. This comes after Rathore suggested that the Gandhis should face charges of "treason."
Following Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore's allegations that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi met with the Communist Party of China during the 2008 Olympics, the Congress retaliated, denouncing his statements as "blatant lies." Rathore had suggested that the Gandhis should face charges of "treason." In response, the Congress highlighted that during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Sonia Gandhi visited the Games Village and interacted with Indian athletes in the Indian block.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate responded to Rathore, emphasizing that Sonia Gandhi's presence during the Beijing Olympics was well-documented. She referenced boxer Vijender Singh and Abhinav Bindra's accounts, both Olympic medalists, who confirmed her participation. Bindra's book 'A Shot At History' also mentioned Sonia Gandhi's interaction with athletes.
Shrinate criticized Rathore's affiliations, stating, "This reflects the influence of your company. You belong to a party where even the prime minister and the home minister are experts in lying."
Additionally, Shrinate brought up the Manipur viral video incident, questioning Rathore's silence on the matter. She challenged his commitment to soldiers' welfare and pointed out that he remained quiet during the incident involving an ex-Army man's wife.
The ongoing debate between the ruling and Opposition coalitions over Manipur violence and other issues continues to escalate. Rathore accused the Congress of contributing to ethnic conflicts in the northeast due to their past policies. He stated that the Congress's approach had divided the country along caste, sects, and languages, asserting that one family's influence had put the nation at a disadvantage.
