Airtel Business and Adani Energy Solutions Partner to Deploy 20 Million Smart Meters Across India

In a strategic partnership, Airtel Business, the B2B arm of Bharti Airtel, has joined forces with Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) to deploy and power approximately 20 million smart meters across India. This collaboration marks Adani Energy Solutions' move to leverage the expertise of Bharti Airtel's telecommunications network for the deployment of smart meters.

Through its extensive nationwide communications network, Airtel Business will provide secure and reliable connectivity for AESL's smart meter initiatives. The smart meters aim to enhance communication efficiency for Adani Energy Solutions.

Airtel's smart metering solutions, utilizing NB-IoT (narrowband-internet of things), 4G, and 2G technologies, will facilitate real-time connectivity and seamless data transfer between smart meters and headend applications. The collaboration will also integrate Airtel's IoT platform, 'Airtel IoT Hub,' offering advanced analytics, diagnostic capabilities, and real-time insights. This empowers customers with greater control over their energy consumption.

Adani Energy Solutions has secured orders from power utilities in multiple states, including Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra, for over 20 million smart meters. The implementation of these smart meters aims to streamline and accurately record electricity consumption in various regions.

This collaboration stands as a significant achievement for Adani Group companies, reinforcing their expansion across diverse sectors. In a recent milestone, the Supreme Court of India delivered a crucial verdict in favor of the Adani Group, dismissing calls for additional investigations following the Hindenburg Research report.

The Supreme Court bench affirmed that no Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe or additional agency investigation is required in the pending cases against billionaire Gautam Adani's company. The court emphasized that the investigation conducted by market regulator SEBI is substantial in addressing the matter.

Following this favorable verdict, Adani Group companies experienced notable growth, with shares surging by approximately 18 percent. Gautam Adani reclaimed the title of Asia's richest person, surpassing Reliance Industries' Chairman Mukesh Ambani.

This collaboration between Airtel Business and Adani Energy Solutions signifies a forward-looking approach to advancing smart meter technology and strengthening the energy infrastructure in India.
